So... You want to join Kirzlar...

Kirzlar is a Play By Email (PBeM) Roleplaying game set in medieval times, created by Rachel "Ray" Chapman, our most esteemed GM. Lonewolfe helped her with the maps and such, but all of the concepts are Ray's. She has endeavoured to create probably the most exciting original game concept that we, the players (and her webmaster) have ever seen.

I, by the way, am Lindsey "Linds" Purifoy, the webmaster. Any questions you may have, if you can't get ahold of Ray, you can ask me, and I may or may not know the answers.

Now, on how to join... (The following is shamelessly stolen from Kristi's Lukoi sim with a few changes to match the Kirzlar sim.)

If you are familiar with RPGs then you understand the processes that are involved in creating a character for the game. Your character's biography serves the as the rules that governs what abilities and characteristics your player possesses. The biography will explain key points about your character so that the other players can interact with your character correctly when they write their parts of the story. This helps avoid the complicated manuals when creating your character. Let your imagination be your guide to creating your character.

There are No Werewolves or Vampires in this game.

I will now cover the joining and character creation of the sim.

The first step is to apply for admittance. This part is really simple. You should send an email to the GM at lilcowgrlcutie@aol.com with the following information:

1. Any experience you may or may not have. Those new to simming arerecommended to read through the resources found out http://simmer.coolsimming.net/

2. Is a brief description of the character you would like to play. This will allow for considering any problems that may come up before you put your time into writing a bio around that character.

3. Remember to include the position that you would like to write for.

After that, you will be asked to write a biography. The GM is willing to work through and answer any questions you may have.

There is also a form to do the above here

The Biography is the hardest part of simming. Applying is the easiest, writing can be difficult at times, but a Bio requires the most thought and reflection.

The Bio for Kirzlar consists of:

Name:
Age:
Physical Profile:
         Height-
         Weight-
         Hair color-
         Eye color-
Kingdom of Birth:
Background:
Magical Affiliation:
         Level of Training -
Personality Profile:
Skills & Abilities:
Special Notes:

The break down of each category is as follows:

Name: the full Proper name. This often one of the harder things to come up with. In the sims case, there are many things to consider, such as ethnicity.

Age: the age of your character years

Physical Profile: What your character looks like, including height, weight, hair, and eye color. And possibly skin color if you want to go that far into it.

Kingdom of Birth: Where was your character Born?

Background: This is the history of your character. It will contain facts of your characters life story.  You want to see that this is the longest part of the Biography. We typically ask for Four paragraphs. You want to include things such as growing up, becoming the person that you are, etc.

Magical Affiliation: There are four kinds of magic: Elemental, Natural, Healing, and Fortelling. Find these in the Magic and Religion section for more detail. Same with Level of Training.

Personality Profile: This section will tell the other players what your character acts like. Include such things as personality quarks, for example do they suck their thumb in their sleep.

Physical Profile: Describe what your character looks like in this section. Don't forget things like Hair color, eye color, skin tone, body build, scars, and so on...

Skills and Abilities: This section is used to describe your character's skills and abilities. This is a Very important section. Include everything they can do, not forgetting Hobbies, such like playing baseball or knitting.

Special Notes: Any additional information that you what known will be found here.

Now you e-mail your character's bio to the GM for review. After it has been met with approval, you become a member of the SIM.

The GM will provide you with a current summary of happenings and will introduce you to the other players. At times, you will be placed with someone who will act as a Mentor to help you get started since it is often unnerving trying to join a sim with everything already going.

To help you get familiarize yourself with the other characters you should read through all the bios on the web site. This is a good idea to get ideas to create your own bio. It helps and might be a good idea to read through the last couple of chronicles to familiarize yourself with the current story line.

The Most important rule in the sim is to have fun.
